--- title: 'Changelog: Create the /dither page' date: 2026-03-08T22:51:44.338Z slug: 2026-03-08-changelog-create-the-dither-page author: Thomas Wilson-Cook tags: - changelog - dithering --- For a while I've wanted a tool to dither images in a consistent format for this blog. I like that they are a) very space efficient, and b) retro. I've spun the page up. It's *extremely* MVP, and absolutely not really fit for purpose. For one thing, I'm downloading ~8mb dithered images. Sort of beats the point of compressed, really. I wanted to see if I could build a tool to do this in the browser rather than a CLI tool with something like image magick. There are a number of (honestly very advanced) dithering tools, like [ditheringstudio.com](https://ditheringstudio.com) and a dedicated subdomain on [sigrist.dev](https://dithering.sigrist.dev). Sometimes you just want to get your hands dirty and build your own thing. I want to have a way to share (more personal) images on the blog. Photos mean a lot to me, and I'd like some place (that I own) to put them.
